Hospital Staff Get Sneak Peek at New Hospital Rooms

 ,  /  January 4, 2017

In early December, physicians, nurses, hospital leaders and other key staff had the opportunity to assess and confirm the layout and design of mock Emergency Department, Medical Surgical and Intensive Care Unit rooms for the new hospital being built in White Oak, Maryland.
Everything from patient beds, to medical devices to lighting and outlet placement were exactly as they would appear in the new hospital. This allowed clinicians to not only visualize the rooms but also to touch and test the clinical spaces. Hospital employees were impressed with the spacious, private rooms, comfortable furniture for visitors and smart design elements that will improve efficiency. After the validation activities, the walls brandished yellow sticky-notes indicating suggestions for the designers to make modifications. This process ensures that the room designs enable our caregivers to provide the most effective, efficient patient care.
Built on the Washington Adventist University campus, just across from the hospital, the rooms have been donated to the university for nursing student training and education.
Our new hospital in White Oak is scheduled to open in 2019.
